"Notice period" just a ruse

We cancelled the medical aid in 25 August, giving the 1 month notice as per Discovery requirements. The agent gave us the total amount that we need to pay as we have slightly overused the monthly allocated savings amount per member. The agent also mentioned that should we still use the medical aid during the notice period, the amout will be added to the deduction at the end of September....To our surprise, the medical aid is actually cancelled, thus meaning we were unknowingly sitting for a whole month with no medical cover.... I find Discovery very misleading, if I knew that the "Notice period" was just a ruse for them, I would have immediately joined the new medical aid instead of telling them to make my commencement date Oct 1st. This does not only put my family's health protection in jeopardy, it also puts my job as it is a requirement to belong to a scheme all the time.....Discovery should have been straighforward!!!

Yes you have and thank you Shaun for handling the query. I do hope that the call center agents get more training so they can relay correct information to customers
