Not kniwing about something you paid for

I joined Discovery in 2018 and went for a tonsillectomy in April. My ENT also inserted grommets because he saw fluids in my ear. In June I was retrenched and had to place my medical aid on hold. I went abroad and came back in August. In September I phoned to rejoin or continue my membership as I got a new job.

He asked me about my previous surgery and I stated that I went for a tonsillectomy but they should have all the information on their system.

I did not mention the grommets as I was under the impression that they had my medical records as they were paying for it.

In November I experienced pain in my right ear and went for hearing tests which I paid for myself. Thus I was diagnosed with hearing loss in November 2018 after I joined. I did not go for hearing tests in April and the grommets had nothing to do with my current hearing loss.

In December my ENT said we need to do surgery as it may be Middle ear disease.

Today they phoned me to terninate my medical aid. They could have just declined but instead terminated my medical aid. Yes, I did not repeat every single detail in the call but I feel that they should have had it on my profile. Same ID number... They should have looked at it before giving me cover. Even if they just declined and gave me a waiting period I would have been happier but terminating my membership for incompetence is a bit much.
