Not a Smart Plan

I have been on this option for several months and Disvoery offers no assitance.

The medication is not covered due to it having to be prescribe by a contracted Smart Plan GP. There is no trace of a GP in December and at the time I needed claim medication in January or see a GP the medication is not paid for due to scheme rules that even if you can abide by them you do not have access to it. Medicines are excluded due to a diagnosis made up by the scheme yet it is on the list of preffered medicines.

The Smart Plan App advertised don't work, Free GP consults don't work. What works? I called Discovery and the Consultant Sheh****n confirmed that Discovery is unabel to assist me.

Trust we can receive a favourable response.

We saw your comment and understand your frustration. We apologise for the manner in which this matter was handled. On the Smart Plan we cover medication on the prescribed day-to-day medicine list, prescribed by a Smart Plan network GP. The list does not include Schedule 0, 1 and 2 medicines, even if prescribed, Over-the-counter medicine and Schedule 3 and above medicines listed on the exclusion list sent to you and available on our website; www.discovery.co.za. The medication you tried to obtain falls part of the excluded medications on the Smart Plan, it is for this reason you had to pay for it out of your own pocket. We have confirmed that you have been contacted and your concerns addressed. We have asked you for more details, which will allow us to help you further. Please send us these details as soon as you can. Regards Norman
