No one bothers!

Long story short...<br> I signed up for Medical aid with Discovery Health in March 2015. It went back and forth for two weeks over the phone. I then finally received my Asthma Questionnaire and sent it back to them. The lady then called me to advise that a waiting period for the Asthma will apply and that I completely understand. I then got sick and wasn't feeling very well and went to the doctor. I then found out that I'm pregnant! At the time I was only between 4-6 weeks! I then called the lady and advised her of this, even sent her proof of the email I received from the doctor to prove to her that I didn't know I was pregnant at the time of applying for medical aid and she then just said that the birth now won't be covered! My question is ...don't this type of thing get sent off to underwriters first? I then called so many times and even sent emails ...month after month ...nobody ever bothered to call me back or even just explain!

Hello YasminaSD,

Thank you for allowing me to assist you with your query.

As discussed, when a member applies for cover on Discovery Health Medical Scheme, it is stipulated on the application form that should their health condition change during the application they have to advise the scheme. The scheme can then make an informed decision in regards to applying any waiting periods applicable on the membership. We realise you were not given consistent feedback when you queried this and we're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

You are welcome to contact me directly should you require further assistance on the matter.

Kind Regards
Dimakatso
