No medical aid for 3 months, your'e *****ed!

<p>I have been with Discovery health for 2 years, and for financial reasons I couldnt afford to pay for the months of April, May and June of this year. I then phoned Discovery and explained my situation and asked if I could down grade to a scheme that is a bit cheaper, for the mean time. They said that it was fine and I would down grade to the keycore scheme and I will pay R1660 a month for both my partner and I.</p> <p> </p> <p>I then got a phone call where they informed me that I cannot use my medical aid for the next three months and that I can only start using it in December. I was shocked by this. I then asked them what am I paying every month for then? For nothing? I also asked what if something happens and I need to use my medical aid, Im basically *****ed, and the operater said yes, baisically. I was so taken a back. I want to leave Discovery medical aid if this is how they treat their clients. It is disgraceful.</p> <p>The whole thing that irritates me the most is that if I need my medical aid in an emergency, and I cannot use it, but yet I am paying almost R2000 a month. I might as well just take that money and pay cash for everything.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have my car and household insurance with Discovery too and I just expected to be treated a bit better than this.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am awaiting an appropriate response.</p>
