No joy from st Augustin hospital when bed broke after back operation

I have had 2 back surgeries the past year and after the first one I got a infection in the spine and had to get a second operation and 8 *****s, 2rods, 2plastic disc, was put into my back. Also had bone grafting done and nerves decompressed. After 5 and half hour operation I was put into icu for 24hours. Was then put back into sergical ward. 6 hours after that my wife and family came to visit and I raised the upper half of the bed to be able to see them. Then the next thing I knew the bed broke I fell flat down on the bed en the bed fell down to the floor. I fractured my lower vertebrate where the doctors inserted the *****s. Long story short after all the pain and fighting I told the hospital that I will be taking legal action against them and they responded that the won't be held liable for bed braking and any concerns I must put in writing. Ever since the first operation in this hospital I have been having endless problems and still the problems are continuing. My medical aid is exhausted and I have been paying for ongoing doctors visits and injection. My medical aid can't assist and I have since the bed braking experience not hear a word from the hospital.
