NO ASSISTANCE RECEIVED
good day I signed up with discovery via my new employer for medical aid January 2017 as it was compulsory. when wanting to visit the doctor with my son, I was told by discovery unfortunately my account is not activated as nothing was received from my employer which was sent from the PSG consultant but discovery did not update however R622.50 when off on my salary in January and I was only granted access in February. this caused me to sit at the day hospital a full night and morning and I couldn't be assisted as it was full. I ended up medicating my son myself at home. I recently added two dependents on my medical aid and was informed everything is active and ready for use. when I called discovery to ensure that all is in order and to inform them that the additional members cost was not deducted from my salary I was told that my account was suspended for none payment. I escalated to my PSG Healthcare consultant and she was absolutely awesome to sort it out. when my additional dependent needed to see the doctor on the 31 October I was informed by the receptionist of the doctors room unfortunately the medical aid was not activated and that the fee of R320 must be paid before consulting a doctor. we paid and a receipt was received. we sent this through for reimbur*****t as this was an error on discovery side and I was told the below when following up on the pay-out of R320: 1. Rushen who claimed to be a manager Ref# ********** 9831 informed me that I needed an invoice and I informed him unfortunately Dr De Villiers cannot supply this as I was told by the receptionist and that a receipt is supp**** for cash payments only. 2. I then asked what happens if discovery calls the doctors room and asked for the same thing, would I receive my money if the receptionist supplies the same info as supp**** to me, Rushen says unfortunately discovery will not pay as this then becomes a personal matter and consultation fee paid by us.
I have incurred a total loss of R942.50 including petrol cost for having to go to the ATM to draw money as well as bank charges but the greatest loss was SERVICES NOT RENDERED. question is: what if our children needed to be rushed to the hospital due to an emergency? would I have been liable to pay as well and to be told the same thing? I was forced to deduct the R320 from a priority on our budget as my partner was quite ill. please advise if this is the discovery I signed up who promised me that our needs will always be attended to? I am frustrated and ****ed as I have been calling constantly for feedback. I have escalated this to the PSG consultant again and have to wait another 24 hours for discovery to provide feedback.
