My Disease is not important enough
<p> </p> <p>I have just recently app**** for a chronic medical cover form with Discovery health medical aid. I was duly informed that ADHD/ADD does not make up one of the 27 chronic diseases list.</p> <p> </p> <p><br />I was utterly shocked by this as I know how it feels to struggle through life everyday and now I have to struggle even more to be able to afford my medication every month because Discovery cannot see our struggles?</p> <p> </p> <p><br />Is this something the ADHASA would be willing to help e fight. To be able to get the same benefits of those with real diseases would be a dream come true and a human right.</p> <p> </p> <p>I will fight this till my last breath to get ADHD/ADD on that list.</p> <p> </p> <p><br /><br /></p>

The Council for Medical Schemes determined that all medical schemes must provide a minimum level of cover for a list of 27 chronic conditions (including HIV), in any setting, according to treatment guidelines. These are called the Prescribed Minimum Benefit Chronic Disease List conditions. Medical schemes are obliged to cover the diagnosis, medical management and medicine for these conditions on all plan types. Unfortunately your condition does not form part of this list and cannot be covered from the Chronic Illness Benefit. We do however cover the medication from available day to day benefits according to the members chosen plan type.
We are sorry that we could not provide you with a different outcome however trust we have provided clarity.
