Mmed - terrible allocation of funds

Hi there.

I am on the MMed medical aid plan and have a HUGE problem with the lack of funds for over-the-counter medication. Paying R5000 a month per member for medical aid is steep, but worth it if we get what we need. I was horrified to find that our funds had run out after one purchase of supplements on 2 January, and was told that we have R800 a year for the entire family for OTT medication. This is outrageous! There are certain conditions, such as iron deficiency and IBS, as well as back pain and headaches etc that are best treated with supplements and OTT medications. I cannot afford these out of my pocket due to the high price we pay for our medical aid.

There is also no separate fund for back treatment like DBC, which is included in other, less comprehensive plans with other medical aids.

You insist that MMed is a comprehensive plan, but you clearly aren't interested in the needs and circumstances of your clients. I will definitely be looking into joining another medical aid.
