Misleading Information Provided
I recently joined Discovery's KeyCare plan. When I joined, a consultant called me to explain the KeyCare benefits. I specifically asked about a Gynea and the procedure involved, specifically asking if yearly checkups would be covered. He said YES and explained that I couldn't go and directly see a Gynae but that I had to be referred through my GP and that my GP would need to fill out the referral form. He explained something about it being for my own benefit so that the Gynae visit would be covered by my Specialist funds and so that I would not need to pay anything for it. So I went to see my chosen KeyCare GP (as Discovery instructed me to do) and he explained that there was no point in him completing the Specialist referral form because he knows from past experience that a routine check-up to the Gynae will be denied on the KeyCare plan. This was never mentioned to me. I asked the consultant if routine procedures like pap smears would be covered and he said YES, that I just need to go and get the specialist referral form filled out by my GP. So I made my decision to join Disocvery based on misleading, inaccurate information! This is unacceptable!!
