Misleading information

After I had to go to Nelspruit Mediclinic emergency ward for help, I was admitted in hospital to go to teatre that same day to have kidney stones removed, wich I were unaware of. I had terable pain in my bladder and back and could struggled to walk. We dont have a hospital in Phalaborwa. I received my confirmation number from Discovery by SMS. When I went to the theatre I saw the docter for the first time. He tried to explain the diffirent senarios to me, but I did not understand half of it and just wanted the pain to stop. After the procedure I was told that I had stones in both kidneys and they only removed the stones from 1 kidney. When I came back home I was very sick and did not read any mail. After about a week I received an e-mail from the hospital to say that I owe them R3 900 wich the medical did not cover. I send the medical aid and they said that they gave the hospital permission to do this procedure, but that I had to pay for it on the plan I am on, except if is done in a docters consulting room... I questioned this, because I was not informed of this permission given on my behalf to pay money that I don't know what it was for. Discover answered that they did infom me with an e-mail and forwarded this letter to me again. My procedure was done on 2 May at about 19:00. The letter wS send to me (according to the medicak aid) on 3 May 2018 and is also dated 3 May 2018. Now I want to ask a question: How can the Medical aid give permission without consulting me to do a procedure wich I was unaware of and told the hospital that I will be responsible for the cost? Why did they not inform me on that same SMS that U will be responsible for costs in the theatre wich was unknown to me? How can they say according to my medicak plan I must pay this if I did not even know about it but they did? Why did they only send a letter the next day and why did I not receive it yntul yesterday? This was an emergency procedure. The medical aid would have paid for this in the docters consulting room, why not in theatre if the docter only saw me there for the first time? How can the medical aid send me e-mails to say that they gave the hospital permission to do tis procedure, but I will be responsible to pay but they did not let me know about this arrangement? The way Discovery treated me when I enquiered about this was not very helpful, or professional. The just kept on sending me booklets of their procedures and told me it it was the hospitals responsibility to have told me, after they gave the go ahead.
