Membership Suspended Despite Successful Debit Order – Serious Risk to Child

My Discovery membership was suspended for alleged non-payment, despite my premium debit order on 1 December being successful and fully cleared on my bank statement. The debit order remains active and was not reversed or returned.

This suspension is due to an internal allocation error on Discovery’s side.

What is most concerning is that I have an infant. Had my son required urgent medical treatment during this period, we could have been denied care because of Discovery’s error, despite payment being made on time.

I have contacted Discovery and provided proof of payment, yet my membership was still suspended incorrectly. This is unacceptable for a medical aid provider and poses a serious risk to members.

I am requesting: • Immediate reinstatement of my membership • Written confirmation that my cover was uninterrupted • Assurance that no penalties or waiting periods will be app****

I expect this matter to be treated with urgency.

This is the response you guys decided to give me via email absolutely disgusting distasteful service you are a bunch of bullies
"Billing query
Please note that your membership is suspended because the early debit you requested on
22 December 2025 was unsuccessful. The purpose of the early debit was to ensure that we
would not process a debit on 1 January 2026."

My December premium was successfully paid on 1 December and cleared. My membership for December was therefore fully paid and valid.

The early debit processed on 22 December related to **January’s premium only** and was requested to avoid a 1 January debit. That early debit was either unsuccessful or reversed due to a duplicate debit, which I immediately addressed and informed your consultant that I would arrange a restrike. Which is what I initially contacted you today for to find out my medical aid is suspended.

It is incorrect and unreasonable to suspend my membership for a **paid month (December)** due to an early debit for a **future month (January)** not being processed.

At no point did I default on my December contribution. Suspending my cover under these circumstances is an error and placed my family, including my infant, at risk of being denied medical care despite valid payment.

I am requesting:
• Immediate reinstatement of my membership
• Written confirmation that December cover was uninterrupted
• Correction of my January billing with a restrike date to the 7th of January

Please escalate this matter urgently, as the suspension was app**** incorrectly.
