Members should rather die
In April my husband was rushed to hospital with a kidney stone that had to be removed surgically. Before he was admitted we asked if discovery will cover it since we are living off 1 salary since my husband is still a student. They said it was an emergency, so yes. After a 2 day stay where they broke up and removed the stone (saving his kidney), Discovery suddenly refused to pay. They say that he should have rather lost his kidney then they would have paid for the weekly dialysis and IF he ever gets a donor, they would have paid for the transplant. Their reason: It was a pre-existing condition (he lost a kidney years before already due to stones) and our Discovery Smart plan does not cover pre-existing conditions.
Now I had a miscarriage (my 4th this year) a week back and haven't stopped bleeding. We needed to go to the gynea to have a sc**** in an aytempt to stop the bleeding but Discovery refuses to pay for "elective" procedures like sc****s. So, I don't have the R5000 for the sc**** or the R21 000 for the kidney op. So why do we spend R25 000 a year if they just pocket that money?
