Medical Plan cancelled without Members Knowledge
From the actual explanation of the various policies to dealing with Discovery for any claims etc it has been an absolute uphill battle. I recently left my company that has an understanding with their employees and Discovery to pay forth a set amount towards any medical aid. Discovery was the preferred and so I went with what the company advised. Upon my resignation I was asked to fill out forms, whereby I signed and agreed to carry out my medical aid within my own capacity. This was sent out to my old company's HR and they sent out a communication to Discovery to (understandingly) release me from the payment contribution that they had with myself and Discovery. Discovery took it upon themselves to, without my consent or any written instructions from myself, to completely REMOVE my husband and myself from our Premium Classic plan! I found out that I hadn't been on medical for a month when I had been to The local Pharmacy after I had sprained my wrist and wanted to put the anti-inflammatories etc on my medical! When I called them to hear what was happening they admitted to no responsibility for their error and in fact demanded the fees for the month that we had not been insured!
Thank you for your comment.
As discussed I confirmed when a member joins through an employer group all financial changes are done through the employer. I confirmed we did not receive a request to have your membership transferred to your private capacity from your employer. To re-instate a membership we do require all outstanding premiums to be paid up to date and in full. The reason for this is to ensure there is no break in cover. Should there be a break in cover we would need a new application form to be completed and full underwriting will apply.
I am truly sorry I could not provide you with a different outcome to your query.
Kind regards
Jashvir
