Medical condition not being covered - Utterly disappointed!

My family and I have been with discovery since 2001 – that’s 21 years. I am a 24-year-old female that suffers from Macromastia. Discovery states, “Discovery Health Medical Scheme gives you complete peace of mind that your healthcare is in good hands at every stage of your health journey.” and “Our response: Make people healthier and live longer” - Which I now understand is a lie you tell your clients and potential clients. Evidently discovery uses the quoted statements very loosely and mendaciously.

Discovery claims to cover medical conditions, however refuses to cover breast reduction surgeries which were made of clear indication by my GP as well as a Surgeon that my case is clearly no cosmetic surgery and indeed a medical condition that is affecting my health and mental state with each passing day. It is quite clear that these decisions were made with the intent of protecting discoveries pockets. Discovery denied the request to cover my breast reduction surgery, furthermore they have stated “We recognise that the treating doctor is in the best position to make medical decisions about your condition and treatment. In reaching this decision we have not questioned the diagnosis or the treatment the doctor has recommended.” – this is a true contradiction to their statements. How is this “fair funding”?

Despite a motivation letter from a Surgeon and my GP being submitted to Discovery, this medical scheme still refuse to pay for breast reduction surgery.

So Discovery Health, let’s identify the medical term for Macromastia: Macromastia or breast hypertrophy, as it is clinically known, is a medical condition that may occur due to over-development of glandular tissue during puberty.

Now lets go over a few of my symptoms: bra scars and marks from cutting into my skin, skin irritation and rashes, breathing problems (shortness of breath), fatigue, chronic neck, back, and shoulder pain; chest wall pain; poor posture and shoulder grooving which leads to pain; feet swelling because of the weight, sleep disturbances, rashes under and between my breasts and in the bra strap grooves, and low exercise tolerance. The sheer weight and size of abnormally-sized breasts alone causes excruciating pain and discomfort overall.

So, please enlighten me, how is a breast reduction procedure for a case like mine, excluded from being covered?
