Medical aid not suited for toddlers and children

I found out today, and learning the hard way that the rules put in by the medical aid only consider adults. This happened when I found out that discovery would rather have my 4 year old daughter sit through the trauma of being away for her milk tooth extraction. For her to be sedated, I will have to pay an admin fee of R1200 with is more than what the procedure quote costs. The consultant even advised that I do this cash, as paying that admin fee would cover the whole procedure anyway.

I am sure the person that came up with that as a business rule, did not even for a single second consider kids and toddlers. I am however sure that the person got 3times the normal bonus and saving so much money.

I would even bet that that person's children are old enough that they would never be affected by this anyway.

This year is my last with the medical aid. And this is the reason. I hope new parents learn from my experience that discovery is not best suited for parents with toddlers, or even parents planning to have children.
