MEDICAL AID ******ION

Member nr *** GM Meyer I had a medical condition where I needed emergency surgery. I had a problem with my teeth and it caused a lot of pain. The dentist could not do local surgery because of the apses. The medical aid made me pay in R6800.00 because they say it was cosmetic surgery. Was I rather to stay without surgery and land up in ICU because the infection was making it's way to my heart. I think this was ******ion from me. I had to lend the money to pay in. The specialist told me that the Medical Aid should not have made me pay because the LAW states that I had no choice for my health reason but to get the teeth removed immediately. I wonder if the staff at Discovery has ample knowledge of what cosmetic surgery and life threading surgery is. It has been close to 2 weeks now that I am still awaiting response because the specialist contacted Discovery to get the actual fact straight as to why the surgery had to be done. I feel violated by Discovery Medical Aid, it took me over 3 hours waiting to be helped at the hospital, where I was then informed I need to pay R6800.00. And nothing was done or any help given until they received the R6800.00. Does our well being and health not count at all? Why do i have Medical Aid if they are not assisting when I need them the most? I need answers and also a refund on the R6800.00, if I did not get the emergency surgery, I assure Discovery that the hospital bill would have been way way more. Thank you
