Maternity Benefits - Discovery Health - Whats next!!

So... Medical aids/ Insurances all have 1 thing in common - how can we not pay clients out so that we can make more money and this would be one of those moments.

I just found out that I am pregnant with my first child and what is supposed to be a joyous time has now become a stressful situation and thoughts of what do I have to look forward to during my pregnancy especially if this is the way it starts out with Discovery!

In order to benefit from the Maternity Benefit you have to register your unborn child which is fair enough but because I registered the day after I went to the Gynaecologist to "CONFIRM I WAS PREGNANT" they are refusing to pay for the gynaecologist appointment or the sonar and the funds need to come out of my medical savings as they cant backdate a claim - quite ridiculous if you ask me - There should be a period that you have in order to claim and the Gynae appointment can supply a letter stipulating that it was a pregnancy confirmation appointment and not just a general appointment.

So any future moms make sure that you register your baby whether you are or not pregnant so that you can get covered from the start because 1 day later - literally the next day -they wont accept it.

I will keep you posted on what the future holds but Discovery - slowly dropping the ball are we??
