Maternity benefit useless

we are with Discovery and my wife got pregnant in January she went for a test at our local GP who confirmed that she was pregnant and that claim was approved by discovery and then when she started using the gynaecologist the claims were being approved and the consultant we spoke to told us the claims state pregnancy related and than we now find out that discovery won't cover her last 3 gynaecologists visits because they were using the specialist funds instead of the maternity benefit and now we don't have any specialist funds because they were used for maternity and we now owe the gynaecologist for those 3 visits because discovery says they won't cover them because we didn't activate the maternity benefit that we didn't even know we had to activate. for nearly a year claims were being processed by discovery for pregnancy related claims but no one bothered to check or notify us to activate the maternity benefit.That is clearly a ****!
