Maternity benefit covers less than 20% of expenses

I've recently activated my Maternity health benefit and can't believe Discovery pays less than 20% of expenses. I'm having to fit the bill for expenses like blood tests which are mandatory to determine pregnancy before you can book an appointment at most reputable gyneas. I've just paid R2 700 for blood work which is supposed to be covered and after spending almost 2 hours on the phone with Discovery it was determined that they do cover every one of those tests but there are a number of codes by which these items can be claimed under. Discovery then refuses to tell which secret codes you should put on your claim.

What's really laughable is that they only pay R499 for a gynecologist appointment which averages between R2000 - R3500. I'd love to know where they're finding specialist doctors who would work for that rate?

I find it so frustrating that I need to jump through hurdles to claim the benefits I pay for every month and then still have to pay for the bulk of my expenses "out of pocket".
