Maternity Benefit being declined

My wife was 18 weeks pregnant at the time of this event. The summary of events regarding the registration for the Maternity Benefit.

During my first visit at the gynecologist on 2019.02.19, I was told by the receptionist I should register on-line for the Medi-clinic baby program in order to activate the Maternity Benefit from my medical aid, since I am a Discovery Member. By doing this, I was told, the amounts charged by the doctors during my pregnancy, will not be taken from my savings account. I registered on 2019.02.20 on the Medi-clinic baby program.

Upon investigation of my claims transaction history (see attached), I realised that amounts were deducted from our savings account.

My wife contacted Discovery in order to find out why money was deducted from our savings account and not the maternity benefit. She was told then that she had to activate the Maternity Benefit on Discovery and not activate the Medi-clinic Baby program. She was misinformed.

She then activated the Maternity Benefit as well on 07.05.2019. Upon questioning the fact that money has been deducted from our savings account and if it could be reversed, she was told no, since the system will only see the activation date as 07.05.2019 and no reversals can therefor be done. The total amount that has been deducted incorrectly so far is more or less R 4000.00 (more or less). She was misinformed and now Discovery does not want to reverse any payments made due to an activation date. It is unacceptable from their part since money is allocated for a maternity benefit, which you are now not allowed to claim back since the system will only see the activation date and the claims were made prior to that.
