I am currently 32 weeks pregnant. On 18/5/2017 I requested a list of gynaecologists from Discovery that are on their network and the list was provides so i chose a gynaecologist.I have been going to that Dr since i was 12 weeks pregnant. On my 29th week , I went for consultation where I was told by the doctor that before I reach 32 weeks of pregnancy I need to pay a co-payment of R3000 for my baby to be delivered.I could not understand why I need to pay such a huge amount when I am in medical aid and the Dr being provided by Discovery. After serveral calls I made back and forth to the Dr and discovery, it came out that the Dr is not in the Discovery network anymore and seemingly when Discovery gave me the list of doctors, the doctor had already opted out of the network and discovery still advised that I can use that Doctor. When I informed discovery about this matter tbey said I need to get another doctor on the network to continue with thill I give birth. From the list the gave me, its either the doctors also opted out months ago or no doctor whats to take me because of how far I am with my pregancy as I am now considered "at rsk". I do not know which doctor will deliver my baby as Discovery says they can not help me, there is nothing they can do.I do not have R3000 to pay whereas I pay my medical aid monthly.Discovery has failed me as a customer when I need them the most. They provided me with a list of doctors that is no longer on their network and now "there is nothing they can do"

I am still not satisfied with the response. As of today, I do not know which doctor will be delivering my baby. No one can get hold of the doctor that discovery recommended.Where will I be getting R3000 co-paymnet when I pay medical aid every month and was told that the doctor is on the discovery network meaning I will not have to pay anything for birth procedures. . So no this issue is not sorted yet up until my questions are answered.
