Limitless Arrogance

Discovery's arrogance knows absolutely no limits. I left my previous employer and South Africa at the end of July 2021. Despite the fact that Discovery has my bank account details, you for the past 6 months did not debit my account with an amount outstanding. While you were apparently completely capable of sending me text messages during August to ask me if I will remain a member and to go for a vaccine, it did not occur to you to send me a message telling me you cannot deduct this amount from my account unless I login to your website and approve it? If you felt you had to communicate this via email, did it occur to you to ask my previous employer if they have a forwarding email address for me? Or if worst comes to worst, put a trace alert up at the credit bureau to check if there is an updated email address for me? How am I supposed to know that despite the fact that you have my bank account details I have to approve this deduction? Instead what I received yesterday is a message saying I should login to your web portal to view my claims statements. Not a message saying – Hi, you owe us money which we cannot deduct until you approve it? This morning I receive a message from Transunion saying a default was loaded onto my credit profile - only to discover this was courtesy of Discovery who apparently - despite the fact that you have my bank account details - need me to approve that you debit my account. I am now the proud owner of a default listing on my credit record which by the way has never contained any adverse information. This while you have my bank account details?! So with effectively no communication from you between August the 13th when you informed me about vaccines and yesterday when you tell me to go “view my claims statements”, you have the audacity to issue a letter of demand and list me as defaulting? Just WOW!

So not only have you not "contact[ed] me" since your generic reply this morning, but more than 48 hours after I logged into your web portal to grant you the 'critical approval' that you seemed not to have to process payment from my bank account you still have not collected the money. It is appears that you are simply not interested in actually collecting the money which you deemed so critical that you listed me as a defaulting client with the credit bureau.

So apparently the only way to get Discovery to respond to me is by continuing to post on a public forum. On the 19th you sent me an email requesting that I provide you with proof of payment. Note that despite the fact that YOU collected the payment through a debit order from my bank account, you ask me to provide you with proof of payment. I reply to you within 2 hours of receiving your email with the proof of payment, requesting you to keep me informed of the progress as I expect you to attend to this default listing with Transunion asap. More than 48 hours later still no feedback. So I suppose the only way to get you to pay attention to the matter is to interact via this forum. Shall I take to Twitter or Facebook next?

And still Discovery has not reached the bottom of what they are (in)capable of as Customer service. I now receive a reply to my email with the proof of payment asking me to provide my membership number, full name, contact details and ID number. They send this from a noreply email address. They have allocated me a new reference number, so clearly this information I am providing is just floating around in Discovery as if it is of no consequence or relevance to anything.
