*****!!!!

In 2014 I had a operation at a fantastic Dr in NETCARE Jacaranda hospital, as that is the only hospital he operates at.

He mended my wrist with a tiny ***** and long story short in 21016 it had to be removed. I have since moved to another Discovery plan which does not list Jacaranda as a hospital I can use. Understandably, I wanted to use the same Dr as before. I also had a small procedure to do on my elbow from a different Dr by my request to do a joint operation, they both spoke and agreed to do the operation on the same date (PROBABLY SAVING DISCOVERY A LOT OF MONEY). I received the respective codes and sent them to Discovery for approval. My one condition, as I am in a tight financial position, was that I know my plan does not cover Jacaranda but my advisor at Discovery said to send it in and see as they might be able to wave such a fee and if not we can downgrade my plan to one that will cover Jacaranda in their hospital range.

After a while I found out that the one Dr has been approved but the one for my elbow was not due to the Dr not having some agreement with Discovery stating that he will only charge medical rates and that if I can get a confirmation from him Discovery will approve the codes he sent.
I received the confirmation and sent it to Discovery after which they approved all my codes and stating in black and white

Co-payment: 0,

Deductible: R0.

Non-notification penalty: 0

Out of network penalty: 0.

I went ahead and got the operation where I was scheduled, and approved, to stay 2 nights but left after 1 night (PROBABLY AGAIN SAVING DISCOVERY A LOT OF MONEY). After the operation the SMS's started stating I need to pay Jacaranda R6450.00...

I took this up with Discovery who said that the codes changed while I was being operated and that that is the reason I now need to pay.

I then followed up with Jacaranda as well who said they could not see any changes in the codes and the reason I need to pay is because my plan does not cover NETCARE Jacaranda in the hospital range.

Following up with Discovery again they also started saying my plan does not cover this hospital and every time they send up a request it is thrown out when it sees my plan vs. the hospital but no one can help to push in the fact and proof that they gave permission to go ahead with no co-payments.

So now two different stories with confirmation proof that I do not need to pay anything.

NETCARE is sending demands and threatening me with legal action that will affect my ITC because of Discovery not stepping up to their part of the agreement.

I am furious and out of ideas but I still do not feel it is fair to expect me to pay the money.
