Letter of complaint

I would like to make a complaint against my medical aid, Discovery Health. My membership number is ***.

On the 22nd of December 2019 I fell and hurt myself. When waking up the following morning my right foot was badly swollen and very painful. Because I am on medical aid, I decided to go Entabeni Hospital and it is the closest hospital to my home. If only I knew I would have gone to King Edward Hospital which is a government entity.

I am left rather stunned and severely infuriated by a bill amounting to R4000.00 that I have just received from Entabeni Hospital. Thanks to my medical aid for adding insult to injury, they are now refusing categorically to pay for my medical bill. This is a real slap in the face as I did not break my ankle intentionally, it was just a freak incident and I thought my medical aid will cover me accordingly. Even if my medical savings account (MSA) was depleted as they have advised, but I still had hospital benefit to cover the cost attached on their statement.

I am very unhappy about the service I am getting from Discovery Health and I think the public needs to be made aware of this. To me, this is ********* practice which needs to be revealed. May you please investigate my concerns.
