Lack of knowledge
I was previously a member of Momentum and moved to Discovery when i was referred by a satisfied family member. I visited a Gynae on the 17th of November 2015 and he said he had to operate and gave me a date for the 14th of December 2015. My Discovery membership kicked off on the 1st and i contacted them to advise them of my procedure booked for the 14th of December 2015. I was told they had to do investigations and i was fine with that. I call in today a week later and no investigations have been done, no forms were sent to my gynae and i havent been given feedback on what is going on, i tried to assist them by facilitating the process, i was kept on hold for over 20min, i had to call Discovery Authorizations over five times today, and i still have not been assisted. I am in pain and frustrated and this has not been escalated to someone that can assist me or just tell me whats going on. I'm disappointed at the service you provide to new members.

When a member joins the Scheme, we process the application according to the information disclosed on the application. Once your membership is activated and we receive a request for either in or out of hospital authorisation within a certain period of time our system will automatically pend the request. We will then request further clinical information from your provider. This process is necessary to ascertain whether there were any pre-existing conditions of which we were not aware.
We confirmed the Standards Team was in contact and provided feedback. You may contact them directly if you have any further concerns.
