Kids casualty cover a sham?

On the 11th of November 2016 my son fell at nursery school (located in Rossouw avenue Pretoria) and was informed that my son will most probably need stitches. I phoned my son’s pediatrician that it informed me that I should take my son to an emergency room/casualties. I tried to claim the cost under the ”kid’s casualty cover” for classic and executive plans as we were on the classic saver plan. I assumed due to Wilgers hospital being an authorized service provider that the practice at the emergency room will be as well.

When one logs into the online profile and searches for “Emergency service” in “Pretoria” and “for which I am fully covered” the search result is “Unfortunately we couldn’t find any results for your search criteria”. I was informed that my claim will not be paid due to the fact that the doctor that treated my son is not a part of the network registered under the “kids casualty benefit”. On the Discovery website there are no Doctors listed that are registered under this benefit, how does Discovery then expect me to take my son to a doctor that is registered under this benefit? I have come to the conclusion that it is not reasonable to be expected to take my son to a participation doctor registered under this benefit as Discovery cannot inform me of any doctors that are registered and therefor to which ER I should have taken my son. I was informed that Serfontein Kunzmann Incorporated was authorized to assist me at Wilgers Emergency rooms but Serfontein Kunzmann Incorporated is not the authorized provider at the Wilgers emergency rooms (the doctor no longer practice at Wilgers Emergency rooms) as it have been taken over by Dr Louise Engelbrecht & genote ingelyf since 1 August 2016. Not one single agent/employee and or team leader was able to supply me with a list of participating practitioners at emergency rooms in Pretoria to which I should take my son in case of an emergency. I can therefore not understand how it is reasonable of Discover to expect me to take my son to a participating supplier to make use of this benefit.

Additionally if Discovery claims that it provides its members with this “kids casualty benefit” but is unable to supply their members with the needed information (participation practitioners) to enable the member to adhere to the requirements as set out by Discovery, is this not false adverti*****t and should the consumer protection act not be protecting the member from these situations?
