JOINING PENALTY FOR WHAT IF YOU ACCEPTED THE MEMBER TWO YEARS AGO WITHOUT A PENALTY, NOW YOU WANA BACKDATE TO 20 YEARS AGO!!!

My husband joined the medical aid through my company in 2017,with no waiting period no penalty. In Nov 2019 we removed him from the scheme as he is not a person who get sick and the premiums were a bit steep at the time, so we took out an insurance cover which is less expensive but that also came with a disappointment on the 1st GP visit. I contacted Discovery on 09/01/2020 to ask how much it will cost to re-instate my husband on the scheme or only take out a hospital cover. Now they tell me there will be a late joining penality either way for 2005 to 2017 as he left the scheme prev in 2004.So my question is why did Discovery accept him without a penalty and not mention anything about 2005 now you want to backdate how is that even possible if you allowed him on the scheme in 2017 with or without a company portfolio ,an his only been off two months ago. This is crazy, and I think Discovery think even if they loose 10 members its okay they still the top medical aid, still want to squash out a penalty for something that occurred in 2005.So I need to know why you want to backdate and cause he has been on the scheme even if you penalize him for being off two months ago it is ridiculous. I know I might waist my time going on hellopeter cause there is always a backup story from the staff but I will not leave it at hellopeter. You cannot penalize a member for what ever occurred years ago after you accepted him on the scheme almost two year ago from 2017 without any questions.
