Is this how you treat loyal members, discovery Health??

I have been a member of Discovery Health for many years. During the last couple of months, I have become more and more dissatisfied with this medical aid. The medication I have always got on Chronic is not covered like that anymore. There are always additional payments and exclusions on claims and my perception has become that this medical aid really is not providing a good service to its members.

This morning I went to fetch medication per script, to find that the claim is rejected. Phoning in to inquire from the medical aid why the claim was rejected, I find my membership has been suspended. Apparently some payment was not received. I have been a member of Discovery for many years, I have the same bank details and the payment comes off via a stop order. I was not informed of any problem. I spoke to Olwephu Msizi who alleges that I had been contacted, which I never was. I received no phone call or email to notify me of this. I fact the la

I have been put at risk by this medical aid for having my cover and membership suspended without informing me. Then I get **** to and told I was informed, which I was not. I never stopped the stop order, I am not responsible for this error.

I have just had a call from a certain Shaun Pillay at Discovery, who is a manager there, who is speaking to me in a condescending way and making this problem mine. I have to go to the bank to fix up Discovery's error. I have really taken offense to the condescending attitude and insincerity. It seems that Discovery's attitude is this is my problem this error occurred and I am to blame. I am just very angry at the lack of accountability and the lack of them taking responsibility. For R 5368.00 membership fees per month, one expects a better service.

I have no medical aid cover until tomorrow night (that is if a payment is made right now) since Discovery's system cannot process that immediately.

We have an existing agreement that has been in place for years. Discovery went and one-sidedly suspended my membership without informing me, with no error on my part. That is in breach of contract!

Please do. I have checked my bank statements. You did collect a stop order on the 2nd of September 2019, which is what your employee Olwephu Msizi said to me this morning you did not receive. You accessed the stop order on my account on the 4th of October 2019, which was Friday, but no payment went off my account. I am not to blame for that, I did not interfere with it in any way. I had to pay R193 in banking costs for your unsuccessful stop order. So on Saturday the 5th of October 2019, you go and suspend my membership. Without informing me! I received an email from you regarding this matter this morning backdated to the 5th of October 2019, which by the way came through in Junkmail. It was not in Junkmail yesterday.

I have received notification from Discovery that my membership has been restored. However, I have not been contacted by Discovery Health. I have had extensive communication with FNB and it has been verified that the problem was not with my bank account or on the part of FNB. It seems that the problem lies with Discovery Health. So Discovery fails to access your stop order and goes ahead to suspend your membership. Customer beware!
