Iniquitous penalties Imposed by Discovery Health

I am 77 years old. My wife and I have been members of Discovery Health (fully comprehensive), for the past 28 years. We are virtually founder members of Discovery! Due to a 9 month lapse of contributions last year due to financial difficulties, we have asked for our scheme to be restored. They have agreed that because I cannot prove i had medical aid before I joined Discovery In 1992, we have been subjected to a 50% penalty being slapped on our monthly premiums permanently, snd we are being subjected to a 12 month ‘no-claim’ period, but only after we have settled our R30,000 arrears we had accrued during our lapsed period. In all we are having to pay R250,000 over 12 months before we can claim without conditions. Surely this is iniquitous?
