Inhumane treatment by the medical aid

On 27 August 2022 i had an unfortunate incident of being shot as an innocent bystander. I then had to go to hospital as the bullet was lodged inside me and had to be removed. I arrived at the hospital after 23:00. This time falls outside of the call center times. The surgeon available at Waterfall Hospital was Dr. Bope who unfortunately does not charge the prescribed minimum benefits that Discovery charges. On the 28th of August 2022 which was a Sunday, he had to operate and remove the bullet. Again, Sundays there are no call centre agents available at Discovery who could have guided myself and the hospital to find another surgeon or another hospital. My issue here is that we could not wait till Monday to find out whether he charges Discovery rates. Even the voice recording when calling discovery says in an emergency, you do not have to call to confirm benefits. For the hospitalization and other costs, i am not worried about what rate Discovery pays, i am more worried about the surgeon as from a cost of 24k they are only paying 6k. I am now liable for 18k. This is atrocious and very inhumane. This was not a procedure to remove an appendix, i got shot and it is not human to have a bullet lodged inside. It has to be removed as it is a foreign body that can cause damages.
