*********** 'professionals' assessing PMB Requests

Our daughter was born with multiple con******* abnormalities that impact on multiple physiological systems. One of the side effects is severe reflux, for which we have been prescribed Nexium. For the past 6 months, we have been trying to get approval for our daughters chronic medication via the PMB system as motivated for by our pediatric pulmonologist. Nexium is a granular medicine that may be dissolved in order to administer orally. We need to administer this medicine via a syringe (orally) every day before her first feed.

Our daughter is 7 months old, and has had 17 procedures since she was born.

We have been declined several times for this medication, however last week we received approval for another anti-reflux medication. One which comes in a capsule containing granules that do not dissolve. So this makes me wonder about the competency of the person assessing our application. What 7 month infant without con******* anomalies that affect the trachea and oesophagus can swallow a capsule? Let alone one which has multiple anomalies. This tells me that all the doctors reports, scans, x-rays that we have submitted have not been reviewed holistically. This tells me that no consideration has been given to the type of anti-reflux medication that has been approved. If you - Discovery - could just take the time to review the reports and motivational letters, I would not be here on this platform today. It is impossible to speak to anyone regarding PMB approvals, which is yet another frustrating factor.

What more do you want from us to assist you in reviewing our request?
