Impossible to get treatment for a life threatening condition
I have been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. My neurosurgeon has stressed the danger of a stroke at any moment, and the need for immediate treatment. However, after spending hours on the phone with discovery, I still can't get a straight answer on a way forward. Instead, I'm left shuffling papers between them and my treating doctor, and told that there's no way they can help me, unless I figure out which one of (the many) types of codes best describes the surgery I need.
After spending hours on the phone with them over the last ten days I'm no closer to a solution. I've been advised that I need to do an upgrade before month end (which is in 4 working days), yet I'm being told (after having jumped through endless hoops) that it's going to take 3-5 days for my case to be reviewed and a further 5-7 days for the upgrade to be approved. I'm not quite sure how to make any sense of this situation. The treatment that will save my life is available, the only thing that stands in my way is a mountain of paperwork, a list of confusing codes I need to decipher, and an impossible time frame to get it all done in.
