Impossible to change debit order date
I am trying to change the date of my Discovery Heath debit order from the 1st of each month to the 10th of each month. Is a debit order of R4750.00

The problem is, if I want to change the debit order as of today, they will charge me R4750 on 1 Dec 2015 and then again R4750 on 10 Dec 2015.

According to the consultant, this is how it works because the payments are for one month in advance.

So let me look at this as per my payments:

1 Oct 2015 - Debit Order for R4750 which cover for November.
1 Nov 2015 - Debit Order for R4750 which cover for December.
Change debit order on 19 Nov 2015.
1 Dec 2015 - Debit Order for R4750 which cover for January.
10 Dec 2015 - Debit Order for R4750 because I have to pay one month in advance??
10 Jan 2016 - Debit Order for R4750 which cover for February.

That doesn't make sense to me but that is how the consultant explained it.

I don't understand why I have to pay double in December. If this is the correct ruling it is absolutely ridiculous.
How can afford to carry 2x instalments on Medical Aid in the same month.

Anyone that can clear this up for me??

Regards
Jeanne

Thank you for your comment.
I have tried to contact you however you were unable to take my calls.
In order to mitigate the risk of the Scheme, Discovery Health will need to ensure payment is made in advance. Should we change your debit order date to a date later on in the month, Discovery faces the risk of premiums not being received for services which may have already been rendered.
By requesting payment to be made in advance this ensures that we protect all our members.
