I'll tell you about Discover Health

Having been a contributing member to Discovery for more than 15 years, I was told in March 2020 during the 1st wave of Covid19 my benefits were terminated. I made 3 payments of R1400 during the month of March to keep my membership in good order. 1 April I enquired as to the state of my membership and was told another R740 was due in order to reactivate the account. Payment was made. Middle of April 2020 when we were all in a hard level 5 lock down I was then told my membership could not be activated due to the fact that according to their records I owed R22 000. I knew this was a terrible mistake and continued to call and email Discovery for 10 months during Covids various stages of Lockdown to try a d resolve this. I approached another medical aid fund for cover and due to the Discovery debarcle I was out on a 3 month waiting period to claim benefits Then 5 days ago I received an sms request to pay Discovery R24 000 and they politely gave me banking details. I eventually got in touch with two Discovery employees who literally changed my life. Between Tiffany Pillay and Sam Peterson they were able to establish that Discovery was in the wrong and instead of me having to pay them which resulted in me having a bad credit profile through Transunion and Experian for all future employers to see, Discovery in fact owed ME in excess of R9000. If it weren't for the diligent efforts of those two hard working Discovery employees, my credit record would show that I am a bad debt owing Discovery R22K. I encourage all members to check your statements and make sure you are not being de*****ed by Discovery. These events through Covid, retenchment, having to pay for a Covid health check out of my own pocket, together with the absolute fear of.interacting with anyone for many many months, knowing I had no medical cover from Discovery, will.never be forgotten or forgiven. I can only be the positive person that I am and give a huge shout out to Tiffany Pillay and Sam Peterson for eventually hearing and resolving my plight 10 months later, 59 phone calls later and much distress.

I am happy to say that after 3 further weeks of phoning and emailing Discovery, the amount of R10k was finally deposited into my account this morning, which will go a long way in covering the medical debts I incurred while Discovery admin department didnt know their **** from their face. The payment was in fact approved 3 weeks ago, and I received it in writing, however they had somehow put a block on releasing funds, for whatever reason, I am still to determine. Another huge shout out to all the wonderful women at Discovery: Sam Peters, Tiffany Pillay, Carmen Isaaks and also Alison, who actually eventually made this happen. I just hope the incorrect ITC listing will also be resolved to clear my credit record (fictitious amount of R22K owing to Discovery which they listed me for, through their utter mis management of my account) because of Discovery Health does not know what they actually doing. Adrian Gore, or whomever the CEO is currently, you have a lot of work to do! I certainly wont be promoting your brand and you are just damn lucky to have some good female employees who were prepared to listen and take action. The Man I spoke to in March when this all started told me to stop contacting them and that they would contact me. This was when he highlighted that I supposedly owed Discovery R22K What a joke! All calls are recorded so go and check it out.

Thank you Sam, Tiffany, Carmen and Allison for being such amazing people. For the rest of Discovery, go suck it!
