I've been a member for almost 10 years
I've been a member of discovery for almost 10 years and not once have I ever claimed. I just got married and added my wife as a beneficiary. I was then asked to send through motivations and so fourth. While waiting we discovered my wife is pregnant, I was told that due to us just being married she would be added and they came back to say that the pregnancy will not be covered. And a 12 month waiting period. Why was I told it will be done and now not. I've been a member for almost 10 years. Well I can promise you that I will be changing over to another medical aid, And I will also tell everybody about how disappointed I am and get them to change medical aid as well and approach our company to also change medical aids!!!!

As per the Medical Schemes Act, Medical Schemes are not allowed to decline membership to anyone however allows medical schemes to protect their risk pools using the different types of underwriting such as waiting periods. We do understand your current situation you are faced with however the waiting period cannot be removed as this would not be fair to all applicants and members who have waiting periods app**** to them.
