I have canceled my medical aid during last month of September and my cover ended on the 30th

I have canceled my medical aid during last month of September and my cover ended on the 30th. So today when i inquire about when are they going to pay me my savings, they told me next year February that 2026. Since i have canceled my cover why are they taking 5 months to pay me?
