I AM BEING PENALISED FOR A MISTAKE THAT THEY MADE
So I recently joined Discover Medical aid through my employer, and I filled out the relevant joining forms with the relevant details.
I went to see a Dr. on the 29th of September 2025 where I paid cash. I then logged a claim through the Discovery app - 2 days after that, I get a notification telling me I've been paid and that the funds will be taken from my savings account.
I call the *** Discovery line which routes me to their Customer Care. The lady i get through to confirms that the account that was paid to doesn't match the banking details I provided on my joining forms - meaning, a Discovery representative captured my details incorrectly. I then got told that I couldn't update my banking details on a Saturday, and that I'd have to call on Monday. I call back on Monday and manage to get through to someone to assist with updating my bank account information. I get routed back to a customer care representative by the name of Belinda who provided me with a ref. Nr: ***. For the life of me, I could not believe that I got told that I would have to wait for them to initiate an EFT recall, wait for the funds to reflect back to Discovery, for them to pay me, when the banking details i provided on the joining forms were correct. I'm now negatively impacted for a mistake that was made by a Discovery representative. And I have to wait for many business days that keep extending every time I call in, with my own airtime.
It may not be much money to them, but I'm definitely considering taking legal action for this.
After the many calls I've been on, no one seems to be able to explain how or why I'm impacted by this when the banking information I provided on the joining forms was correct. Why do I have to wait 13 days+ to have my query resolved when the act of capturing information incorrectly was done on your end??
