Humiliating experience : Mr Steyn.
My mom and I visited the Discovery Health offices in Menlyn. The reason why we went to their office was to find out the status of our Medical Aid and to obtain a copy of their latest information booklet. We were approached by Mr Steyn. He immediately informed us that we could access all information by computer. I explained to him that my mom is 87 years old, and would like to consult with a consultant to get the relevant information on her recent claims. Mr Steyn kept on telling us to log in to our computers etc. Whilst assisting my mom, he walked away and assisted another couple who entered the office (Albeit there were unoccupied 3 consultants ). I asked Mr Steyn if my mom was covered for a Mammogram, he asked in a public forum if she had cancer! I then asked him if we were eligible for spectacles. In both instances, he gave inaccurate information, and I had to refer him to another consultant for the correct information. Mr Steyn was ill-informed on the subjet matter, he appeared to be uninterested in assisting us, he kept referring us back to the website address etc. The reason why we drove to the offices was for information! If the website is the only source for information, why bother to have an office in the first place. He humilated my mom with his attitude, and all in all it was a very bad experience.
