How many times is hospitalisation required?

I am diabetic and have registered with Discovery for chronic medication. I have recently been hospitalised as a result of using clinically inappropriate insulin. I had to be resuscitated due to a hypoglycemic episode. I continually receive letters turning down appeals made by my doctor as well as the specialist who attended to me whilst under treatment for cellulitis. I have been without insulin for almost a year and simply cannot afford to pay nearly R11 000 pa in levies. I am a widowed state pensioner. The insulin prescribed is the only clinically appropriate option. Discovery insists that this is a choice and they are adamant that I use the formulary items. These HAVE been tried and they have serious side effects. Who will accept responsibility if I experience any of the horrible complications of diabetes? My blood sugar reading was 27.4 today.
