Hospital plan - what is an ermergency???

We are on a hospital plan with Discovery, to have peace of mind for an emergency situation. In May I was hospitalised with the diagnosis of suspected viral meningitis, I did understand that as an emergency admission as the doc told us to immediately go to hospital for a lumbar puncture. Before been put into the ward I asked the hospital desk to get an authorisation from Discovery. This did come through to them and to my cell within 20 minutes. All well we thought. No correspondence from Discovery, no sms, no call. Weeks later the hospital sent an email, Discovery initially paid the full account, but withdrew the money again without any explanation. We were liable for the whole account as the ONLY HOSPITAL I COULD HAVE BEEN ADMITTED TO IS ****m AWAY. They question the emergency. Two motivational letters later (GP + Specialist) came new email yesterday: please ask everyone involved for motivational letter, hospital included (??), was this an emergency?? As mentioned in the beginning, this hospital-plan was for peace of mind/emergency/if something goes wrong - we are paying thousands for that. We definitely chose the wrong service-provider. DISCOVERY PLEASE NOTE (our broker will be informed as well) OUR PLAN IS CANCELLED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. The money will be spent more effectively!
