Horrible, terrible service from Discovery, any excuse not to cover and pay our claims. Any Excuse will do.

I recently joined a new company who had offered the benefits of medical aid. Discovery was the only compulsory option and I joined the medical aid. Because I started at the end of August medical aid was started as from 01.October. All forms were completed and sent through to Discovery as at 09.09.2018 with a start date of 01.10.2018.

My hubby then attended the doctor 12.09.2018 which I paid cash for. Unfortunately on 06 November 2018, he started having chest pains and was rushed to the emergency room and was admitted from there.

He spent only 1 night in a normal ward for observation, and was discharged the next day.

After spending almost 3 weeks, calling discovery everyday trying to sort out the hospital, which I have proof of, I received a call from Discovery saying sorry your medical aid has been cancelled with immediate effect due to the fact that i did not disclose my hubby attended the dr on 12.09.2018, my documents had already been submitted to discovery on 09.09.2018, I would not ever have imagined that after I completed forms, then because I attended the dr before medical aid started, I would need to resend all forms stating we attended the GP , is Discovery for real.

I have asthma, and all this information was disclosed to discovery in full, which they imp**** a 12 month waiting period, which I accepted. I knew that was a chronic conditionand made sure discovery was well aware of the fact.

So because we didnt disclose going to the generel GP after alreay signing up for medical aid they just cancelled it, not follow up and commnication nothing.

The lady that called me was extremely rude, she has no people or communications s****s . She then has the right to tell me to make sure that funds are available for my next debit order,as they already sent instructions to the banks and will then refund me within a few days, is Discovery really offering this kind of a service.

Its pathethic service from a medical aid.
