Horrible Service

I have been with Discovery since 2009. Last week I received an email with the word - "Your health is in good hands. As a member of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, you have complete peace of mind at every stage of your healthcare journey."

I am sorry, but you don't care about a person's health - you are more interested in Vitality and gym memberships and cheaper movies tickets - that is the only thing Discovery is good for anyway.

I struggle with my iron levels - for about 5 years now. It is a chronic problem. My body does not absorb the iron through tablets, so I need to go for drips (once a week for 3 weeks), every 4 months or so. It is quite expensive (+- R2300 for 3) (excluding the blood tests which is R450 alone) and I have requested that Discovery pay it from my hospital benefit or list it as chronic,as it is an ongoing problem. I have submitted all my blood tests, motivation form the Dr etc and still I am being told it will come off my savings. I only get R5128 savings for the year. So I go 2 times a year for the drip and the blood tests, my savings is almost depleted - that is without any other Dr's visits or medication I need. The past 5 years I had to pay in so much money which I feel is extremely unfair. I have never claimed any hospital or PMB benefits. I don't want to go lie there with a needle in my arm every couples of weeks, but my body needs the iron.

I feel it is a disgrace that you are quick to promote health, but when it comes to actually paying for health related issues, you refuse to.

You did not really provide me with an answer. You just said NO Again - you honestly don't care about your clients health and if I could change medical aids I would. You want my Dr to complete forms again (after I sent you all my blood tests etc), but I will be charged to have those forms completed and it will come off my savings again. It is 7th Feb and thanks to the drip and blood tests my medical aid is almost depleted for the year! One of the side affects from anaemia is hairloss - which I also have a severe case(which you can also see on the claim rejected for the treatment she provide). I went to a dermatologist who gave me something to help....but as soon as my iron drops my hairs falls out again - and STILL you say NO for treatment! I will be taking this matter to the press!
