Got Given The Wrong Information-Left to Pay Bill

I'm goin to make it sort. I was planning to go to a Gynae. So I phoned Discovery to find out if my plan has any benefits like that if my MSA is depleted. They said that if I go to one in the network that has pre arranged payment I get a screening per year. So I asked where I can find this info on the website. I spent quite some time looking for a Gynae close to me that is in the network as well as trying to research them to find out if they are good or not. I didn't have much to choose from. So I found one and went, I also made sure if they are still in arrangement with Discovery and they were. I thought I won't have to worry about a bill except the blood tests that's extra. I just received my claim form from Discovery yesterday and saw that I have a bill because it was not paid. I phoned Disc and they said no its only for GP visits. No I'm asking why would I go through all the trouble in searching for a Gynae in the network etc. if I was told otherwise. I was given the wrong info and would not have gone due to my savings being depleted.

Hello Leedo001,

Thank you for your comment.

The screening and prevention benefit covers you for one pap smear, one mammogram, a prostate specific antigen test and HIV screening tests without using your medical savings account. High risk members (which are members older than 65 or members registered for certain chronic conditions) also have access to one flu vaccination that will also be covered. These tests are available for every person on the membership once a year. There is also a health check that is covered which includes blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol and goal weight assessment that will be covered as long as they are done at one of our participating pharmacies. Any consultations that gets billed with these tests are paid from your day-to-day benefits subject to funds available.

We confirmed that you have been contacted and your concerns addressed. Please accept our apologies for any confusion caused by this matter.

Regards
Annelize
