Going on for three months - please help!

I resigned from my job at the beginning of Dec. I was on medical aid through them - but have been with Discovery since 2009. I got married in September. So as I resigned, we thought the normal thing to do would be to move onto my husbands medical aid. This was one drama after another drama (we were even accused of having moved to his medical aid to upgrade my account) which was ridiculous. I was simply doing a normal thing that every married couple does as it works out cheaper that way. My medical aid came off my salary at the end of Jan as always,.Eventually a solution was made that they would back date my joining of my husbands med aid to 1 Jan and refund the amount for my med aid - never happened. So I was covered. Firstly you have rejected so many claims since, but this seems to have been sorted. Now, apparently I owe you for claims I made in Jan due to cancelling my med aid - I didn't cancel anything, I switched over! My husband has now been billed for my med aid for Jan - but I already paid for Jan through my work! this has been an ongoing saga and I am tired of it. Can someone who actually knows how to deal with a customer please call me?

Hello penny84,

Thank you for your comment.

I investigated your query and confirmed we withdrew your membership on 02/02/2015 backdated to 31/12/2014 which means any claims processed would need to be reversed as you will not be contributing to that memberships Medical Savings Account (MSA). This created an amount owing to the Scheme.

As you were added as a dependent on another Discovery Health membership we reprocessed the claims on your new membership as you had cover in January 2015. These claims were processed from the correct available benefit and offset the amount owing to the Scheme as the claims were already paid to the provider.

As you were withdrawn backdated from your previous membership that was billed through an employer group you must discuss the previous employer any premiums that may need to be refunded. I sent you an email so should you need any further assistance in this regard you may contact us directly.

Thank you for allowing me to assist with your query.

Kind regards
Jashvir
