Gap Cover is useless since it covers nothing when you need it.

In the beginning of May I received an email from Discovery promoting their Gap Cover product telling all the good things about it and that I can have it active by 1 July no problems etc.

Well today I noticed in a gap cover email that a claim was rejected because of a waiting period. So I checked the T&Cs and sure as nuts there is waiting periods. (12 months)

The gap cover is an insurance product and not part of the medical scheme. And Discovery does car insurance also. So, if you get car insurance from Discovery is there also a 12 month waiting period before you can claim for a car accident/theft?

My wife needs to go for a hysterectomy (did not plan or know this when I got the cover) but my gap cover is now not going to cover this? Why then do I have gap cover?

Thus, what is the use of gap cover if you just pay for it but it doesn’t cover anything when you need it?

Dear Discovery You have indeed been in touch and I also requested the gap cover policy to be cancelled since I find a 12 month waiting period on short term insurance unacceptable. Regards Kobus
