Full payment of doctors delayed following trauma

My 3 yr-old son got bitten by a Spitting Cobra on his hand on 5 December (at night in his bed). He was in ICU for 18 days. His hand turned black from the poison. The dead tissue had to be removed from the palm of his hand and on top of his hand. A plastic surgeon then had to reconstruct the hand using a free flap from his abdomen. Part of the flap died and a skin graft had to be done. This was basically an emergency stretching over 5 weeks over Christmas and the December holidays. Our understanding is that since it was an emergency that all the doctors had to be paid in full by Discovery (even though some of them charge 300% of medical aid rates). Discovery telephonically agreed with our understanding but have since been playing for time and keep on requesting more motivational letters etc from doctors. We have been on the phone with Discovery for the last four weeks with no luck so far. Every time we get promised it will be sorted out in a couple of days and every time we phone back they request new documentation. We have also been struggling to activate the Trauma Recovery Extender Benefit for about four weeks now. Doctors and the******s are waiting for their hard-earned money.
