Frustrated and disgusted
I am highly frustrated about the service that I received after given full authorisation for a treatment that I received at St Augustine’s hospital in Durban on the 4th of December 2020 for 2 procedures done. I was authorised and approved for a full 4 night stay for all the procedures listed on the authorisation form, which was requested by the specialist. The doctor however, discharged me after one night only as I did not require the full four nights for whatever reason, thereafter, Netcare billed me for my stay which was R9 200 for one night. If the doctor did not perform all the procedure listed on the authorisation application, how does the penalty fall on Discovery’s clients? Discovery and Netcare have still not managed to solve the problem. It is going back and forth and I still receive a statement every day to pay the above amount. This hospital is within my network of hospitals in the Smart plan classic series. If there was a co payment of any sort , the provider should have conveyed this to me the member before any procedure, not after it has been done. What is the point of having medical aid and paying Discovery so much if they cannot cater to the clients needs? I am utterly disgusted that Netcare and Discovery are trying to ****** money from its members without transparency. If this is the type of service offered by these institutions especially during these trying times, I will not be using any Netcare hospital in the future and I will be looking for a more professional medical aid scheme.
