FLABBERGASTED AT EXHORBITANT CO-PAYMENT!!!!

<p>I am totally shocked at the exhorbitant co-payment we have to pay at the Donald Gordon hospital for my husband's upcoming surgery!!!! I find it absolutely ridiculous that a member needs to find a co-payment of R13 850 to pay upfront,!!!! I really need someone to explain to me how on earth this is worked out, I don't even think the hospital stay will come to that amount of money??? What if one does not have that kind of money lying around? Do you have to go without the op and be in pain and agony for the rest of your days here on earth?? Shame on you Discovery, I am totally disgusted! We pay a high price to be on a "Medical Aid" and then where does the "Aid" come in? Why do co-payments have to be put in place, what is the reasoning behind this, to put more stress on the patient as if having the surgery is not enough stress!!! It is totally beyond reason. Please can someone give me a call to explain this co-payment issue to me, I honestly don't understand!!</p>
