Feeling Misled And Let Down.
I have been waiting over a week for a response from Discovery Health. I have now taken 4 days off from work to get this sorted. I feel Discovery seeks excuses to avoid keeping their promise. After going to see a specialist 04/02/2015 for my daughter, Discovery Health informed me that it is not covered as I would need to see my selected GP first. I then paid R680.00. The very next day I went to my appointed GP who gave my daughter the same diagnosis as the specialist. Both Doctors have strongly advised me that my daughter needs an MRI scan as she has proptosis and we need to find out why. My doctor then sent off the first form and it was rejected as it needed to be requested by the Ophthalmologist which it already had been. On Monday 09/02/2015 I went back to my GP who sent another request. I called in yesterday to find out how long the wait would be for the Authorisation code and an agent told me that nothing has been sent. I HAVE the proof that it has been sent. I also feel the agents lack empathy. The last agent I spoke with on Monday came across as snobbish and ****y, and did not like it at all. I am being sent on a wild goose chase where nothing is simplified.
Thank you for your comment.
The intent of the Specialist Benefit on your chosen plan type is for members when they need to visit a specialist out-of-hospital, for a pre- or post-operative hospital visit. The general practitioner (GP) must request a specialist referral approval from Discovery Health prior to making the specialist appointment.
As discussed the above process must be followed to have the appropriate treatment reviewed. I confirmed that we are awaiting further information from the GP to review the referral. In regards to the MRI scan, the scan must be requested by an appropriate specialist.
Please accept my sincerest apologies for the manner in which your query was handled and I am addressing this internally to avoid a reoccurrence like this going forward.
Thank you for allowing me to assist with your query.
Kind regards
Jashvir
